48PA2789 Metal Objects

48PA2789 was recorded before it was burned, and twice afterwards. The fire exposed both a small assemblage of glass beads and what may be Contact Period metal items, including a lead ball, a shaped piece of wire (bracelet?), and a couple pieces of chisel cut metal.

Although 48PA2789 has a rich chipped stone assemblage (most of the ‘other mapped items’ are chipped stone, although a few are glass beads), it also has produced a few probable Contact Period metal object, most of which were found in proximity to the beads.
48PA2789 was intially mapped in 2004. When it was revisited soon after it burned in 2006, the first Contact Periods metal objects and glass beads documented by the GRSLE project were recorded.
